Shiloh’s story begins on a rural county road in Guadalupe County, TX, where she was found—starved, abandoned, and weighing only 20 pounds at just 9 months old. Struggling to trust adults, it was the kindness of children that ultimately led her to the safety of Good Catch.
On March 2nd, Shiloh entered our care needing to eat six small meals a day to gently nourish her emaciated body. Nervous, anxious, and utterly exhausted, she spent her first three weeks with two incredible fosters who patiently nursed her back to health. Thanks to them, she was able to be fully vetted and begin her journey toward adoption.
Shiloh is a delightful mix of many breeds. Initially, we thought she might be a beagle—thanks to her opinionated voice and a nose that never quits. But her DNA results surprised us: no beagle in sight! Instead, her top three breeds make perfect sense. Her sass comes from the Chihuahua, her loyalty from the Heeler, and her distinctive markings from her Bully side.
Now weighing a healthy 30 pounds, Shiloh isn’t expected to get much bigger. She loves playing with other dogs and thrives in high-energy games of chase—usually leading the pack. Her best pals include a 60-pound Doodle and two playful 4-month-old pups who are quickly catching up to her in size. Shiloh is always fair in her play and has never shown aggression toward another dog. Cats, however, are another story—we’ll chalk that one up to the Chihuahua in her. 😉
Shiloh bonds deeply with her people and thrives on companionship. She experiences separation anxiety that can escalate if she isn’t verbally soothed. Because of this, she would do best in a home with another dog and someone who is home most of the time. In the evenings, she lies quietly beside her foster dad after a day filled with enrichment. And during the day, she adores curling up beside her foster mom, tucking her little muzzle into her neck for naps. Shiloh gives love freely and with abandon—like she’s trying to make up for all the time she went without it.
She is crate trained, walks beautifully on a leash, and delights in playing tug-of-war with her dog friends. Stuffed animals are her favorite treasures. Shiloh is fully vetted, microchipped, and up-to-date on all preventatives. If she’s still with us when she turns one, she’ll receive a 12-month ProHeart injection for heartworm prevention—just like all our dogs over a year old.
Shiloh welcomes children with open paws and would thrive in a home with a yard where she can run and play. Apartment living isn’t ideal for this busy body—she needs space to move and explore.
We can’t wait to find Shiloh her forever family—the one who will give her the love she’s been waiting for and the life she truly deserves.
